714,844. Making foam. PYRENE CO., Ltd. June 4, 1952 [June 15, 1951], No. 14289/51. Class 47 In apparatus for making foam comprising a forcing injector 40 which includes a water inlet 52 leading to jet orifices 46, a foam-stabilizer inlet 50 leading to a jet. orifice 48 and air inlet holes 56, air under pressure is supplied to an inlet 66 in a union 42 connecting the injector to a hose so as to increase the expansion of the foam. In a modification, the extra air is supplied through a valve 16, Fig. 4 (not shown), controlled by the pressure at the entry end of the injector. In another modification, the extra air is supplied to a perforated annular chamber in the union 42, or through an opening pointing up-stream or downstream. In a further modification, the hose is replaced by a chamber 30, Fig. 5 (not shown) provided with baffles to form a tortuous passage. In another construction, Fig. 6 (not shown), air under pressure is led into the jets of an injector to scatter them.
