Abstract
1,027,659. Aerating liquids; foam generators; spray producers. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES OF AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND Ltd. June 24,1964 [June 26,1963], No. 26139/64. Headings B1C and B2F. Foam is generated by forming a dispersion in a gas of an aqueous solution of a surface active agent and projecting the dispersion against an obstruction at a velocity greater than 200 f.p.s. and preferably 400 f.p.s. Apparatas includes a foam delivery nozzle 20 having at least twelve (as described, twenty-seven) flat gauge discs 23 therein. The dispersion may be formed in a spray gun in which a trigger-operated compressed air supply 36 induces supply of the liquid from a container 28, the liquid proportion being controlled by a screwed plug 44. In alternative arrangements of gun both air and liquid may be supplied under pressure through valves controlled by a single trigger, see Figs. 8-11 (not shown); or both constituents may be controlled by a single piston valve thumb-operated against the air pressure and having an adjustable screwed collar to limit its travel whereby the proportion of liquid supplied is controlled, see Figs. 12-15 (not shown).
