Abstract
795,973. Endless-chain elevators. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION (HOLDINGS), Ltd., and ENNALS, E. G. Sept. 17, 1956 [Sept. 22, 1955], No. 27085/55. Class 78 (1). An elevator for unloading coal barges at a quay-side comprises a mobile framework 3 on which an articulated jib 1 is pivotally mounted. The jib consists of members 9, 10 hinged together at 11. These members support a pair of spaced endless chains 13 between alternate opposite links of which buckets 19 are mounted. The buckets pass through a trough 20 extending along the member 10 and having a depth approximately equal to half the width of a bucket. The upper runs of the chains pass over quadrantal shaped guides 17 at the hinge 11. The lower end of the member 10 is disposed above a shoot 21 which directs the material on to an endless belt conveyer 23 disposed in a tunnel 22. The top of the tunnel is closed by a series of hinged flaps 24 which are raised and lowered automatically in succession as the framework travels along the quay-side.
