794,288. Liquid-pressure engines. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Feb. 9, 1956 [Feb. 9, 1955], No. 4111/56. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] In an hydraulic axial piston motor of the kind having a cylinder barrel 6 inclined at a variable angle to an output shaft 1, the cylinder barrel is rotatably mounted in a yoke 11, and rotary valve mechanism controlling communication between the cylinder bores and supply and discharge ducts is normally held stationary with respect to the yoke 11 but can be rotated a limited extent to effect an adjustment. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the valve mechanism comprises a sleeve 16 having arcuate ports 19, 191 and fast with a shaft 12 on which the barrel 6 rotates. The shaft 12 can be rotated a limited extent to adjust the angular position of the sleeve 16 relative to the yoke. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, the sleeve 16 is replaced by a ported disc 42 having arcuate ports 41, 41<SP>1</SP>. Limited rotation of the disc may be obtained as before, or the disc may be provided with teeth 49 meshing with a gear 50. In a modification, a control sleeve and a disc are provided, each being provided with a single arcuate port and capable of independent adjustment so that the inlet port can be adjusted independently of the outlet port.
