Abstract

793,999. Packaging-machines. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GES. June 23, 1956, No. 19522/56. Class 94(1). Apparatus for forming batches of articles and depositing them in containers on a conveyer includes one or more sloping feedways controlled by gating means and passing the articles to collectors which, when full, swing clear of the feedways and are inverted to discharge the batches into the containers. The described embodiment is a duplex arrangement which deposits biscuits in containers 2 carried beneath the collectors 6 on an intermittently moving conveyer. The biscuits are fed down feedways 4 by belts 8 forming the base of semicircular channels and operated intermittently by rack and pinion means, Fig. 1 (not shown). The biscuits enter the collectors 6 and are supported by members 7 which retract as the biscuits advance to the rear of the collector. When the collectors are full, they swing to the horizontal position about an axis 19 and the feedways are closed by gating means each consisting of a member 23 blocking the channel and a plate 24 engaging the biscuits from above. The collectors are rotated about the axis of their support rods 17 to discharge the batches, and return into alignment with the feedways.
