793,407. Stuffing-box substitutes. ABBEY, A. (Aktiebolaget Svenska Kullagerfabriken). June 25, 1956, No. 19642/56. Class 122 (5). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a ball or roller bearing, sealing means on each side of the bearing comprises an annular rubber member 18, secured to the outer race 12, having two annular axially extending lips 21 which make wiping contact with the base of a channel 25 formed in a plate 23 which is attached to the inner race 10. The rubber member 18 has an annular metal stiffening rib 22 and the inner periphery 24 of the member 18 makes wiping contact with a surface 26 on the inner race 10.
