Abstract

793,331. Electrophotography. GENERAL DYNAMICS CORPORATION. Jan. 16, 1956 [Feb. 8, 1955], No. 1421/56. Class 98(2) An electrostatic latent image on a photoconductive material 14 disposed on a conductive backing 12 is developed either to a positive or negative by passing the photoconductive surface, while the backing is earthed, across a roller comprising a semiconductor surface 30 on a conductive core 28 and rotating in an earthed developer bath 20 containing developer particles suspended in an insulating liquid, a positive image being produced by earthing the core 28 via switch 34 and a negative image being produced by opening switch 34 so that the core 28 is insulated from earth. The developer particles may be charcoal, coal, coloured glass or resins and the insulating liquid may be a hydrocarbon or chlorinated hydrocarbon. Specification 755,486 is referred to.
