Abstract
792,333. Temperature-responsive actuating-elements. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd. Dec. 19, 1956 [Jan. 11; 1956], No. 1002/56. Class 64(2) [Also in Group XXVI] In a thermal element in which the expansion of fluid 3 such as Ceresine wax is transmitted through a pliable sealing member 5, e.g. of synthetic rubber, to a plunger rod 4 which is thus forced out of the element_ housing 1, the sealing member 5 has a wall of uneven thickness in a transverse plane II-II, Fig. 1. As shown in Fig. 2, in cross section the member 5 has a periphery of generally elliptical shape about a circular bore. The bottom end of the member 5 is shown in Fig. 1 to be flat but it could be hemispherical. Specification 663,907 is referred to.
