Abstract
792,214. Cleaning heat-exchangers. SVENSKA TURBINFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROM. May 15, 1956 [Jan. 13, 1956], No. 15152/56. Class 99(2). In a method of cleaning the tubes 12 of a heat-exchanger 11 by the use of compressed air or other gaseous medium, a large amount of bubbles of the medium is admitted to the liquid to be passed from the end chambers of the exchanger to the tubes, those bubbles being carried by the liquid into the tubes and producing a turbulent movement therein. As shown, the tubes 12 of a condenser are divided into a number of sections 18 by inclined plates 19 along the upper surfaces of which extend apertured pipes 20 connected to a manifold 21, the flow of air through each pipe being controlled by a valve 22.
