Abstract
791,583. Vehicle window regulators. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Aug. 2, 1956 [Aug. 11, 1955], No. 23820/56. Class 20(3) A window regulator for raising and lowering a window 11 in a motor vehicle body comprises a regulating arm 23 formed integrally with a toothed quadrant 19 which can be driven by a pinion 22 and is pivoted at 21 to a bracket 18 mounted upon the body of the vehicle, and a second regulating arm 28 which is pivoted between its ends, to an offset tab 26 on the arm 23, the upper end of the arm 28 carrying a roller 29 slidably received in a guidway 16 formed in the lower rail 13 of a window frame 12, and the lower end being pivoted at 31 to a short link 32 pivoted at 33 to the vehicle body. The upper end of the regulating arm 23 is pivoted at 24 to a flange 17 depending from the window frame rail 13. When the window is lowered from a closed position it moves initially a short distance rearwardly to clear an obstruction, e.g. a body pillar 37, the it moves generally downwardly, the points 34, 29, 27, 24, 36, following the paths of the lines 34<SP>1</SP>, 29<SP>1</SP>, 27<SP>1</SP>, 24<SP>1</SP>, 36<SP>1</SP> respectively.
