Abstract

Carbon dioxide is separated from a gaseous mixture by an absorption-desorption process at atmospheric or superatmospheric pressure using an alkaline solution containing selenious or tellurous acid, as such or as a salt. The alkaline solution may contain ethanolamine, or sodium, potassium or ammonium carbonate, phosphates, borate, or phenate. Boric acid, silicic acid, or a salt of zinc, aluminium or beryllium may act as a synergistic agent. Solutions in water, glycol or glycerine may be employed.
