Abstract

789,586. Magnetrons. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 3, 1956 [July 6, 1955], No. 20593/56. Class 39(1). A tunable magnetron comprises a number of anode segments, 1 .... 12, arranged about a cathode and alternately secured to rings 13, 14 provided at both ends of the electrode system, the interstices between the anodes being alternately large and small, the larger interstices being each bridged by a substantially U- shaped conductor 15 ... 20, and the two rings being arranged so as to be rotatable with respect to each other. Preferably the large and small interstices between the anodes differ by at least a factor of four from each other. The ring 13 may be fixed to the bottom of the tube and the ring 14 secured to an axial spindle which may be rotated from the outside of the tube.
