Abstract
A laundering composition contains 40-65 per cent of a calcium hypochlorite product containing at least 35 per cent of available chlorine, and 10-40 per cent of a product obtained by producing, by spray-drying, a composition containing 10-25 per cent of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose or sodium carboxymethylhydroxyethyl cellulose, 90-75 per cent of sodium sulphate and 0.5-4 per cent of water, and then reducing the water content, by vacuum-drying to 0.1-0.3 per cent. A desiccant such as quicklime, sodium monoxide, potassium carbonate or calcium chloride may be included in the laundering composition, as may also sodium silicate, sodium bicarbonate, soda ash, sodium tripolyphosphate, flake salt and a synthetic organic detergent. U.S.A. Specification 1,787,048 is referred to.ALSO:A spray-dried product is prepared containing 10-25 per cent of sodium carboxymethylcellulose or sodium carboxymethylhydroxyethyl cellulose, 75-90 per cent of sodium sulphate, and 0.5-4 per cent of water. If the water content is 0.5-2 per cent, the product may be used directly for addition to laundry baths. Alternatively, spray-drying may be followed by vacuum drying to reduce the water content to 0.1-0.3 per cent and yield a product which may be mixed with calcium hypochlorite for laundering purposes (see Group IV (c)). U.S.A. Specification 1,787,048 is referred to.
