Abstract
788,952. Welding by fusion. MUREX WELDING PROCESSES, Ltd. July 25, 1956 July 15, 1955], No. 20509/55. Class 83 (4). A continuous arc-welding electrode has a wire wrapping in electrical contact with a central core wire and a coating comprising an inner layer of powdered metal and an outer layer of flux, at least a portion of the wrapping being exposed to provide electric contact. The wrapping may consist of two or more layers of wire windings, adjacent layers being oppositey wound. The electrode shown is similar to that described in Specification 734,219. Powdered metal mixed with a binder fills the gaps 3 in an inner winding of a single wire 2 surrounding the core 1. Flux 5 fills the gaps in an outer winding of two or more wires 4 which project above the flux at the points 6 where they cross the inner wire 2. Specification 729,337 also is referred to.
