Abstract

788,442. Automatic voltage control systems. ISOTOPE DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd., and EPPSTEIN, J. S. B. April 13, 1955 [April 13, 1954], No. 10833/54. Class 38 (4). In an automatic voltage stabilizer of the series valve type, the control amplifier is a cathode coupled pair and is provided with an auxiliary, stabilized H.T. supply. A portion of the output voltage is tapped off potentiometer R5 and applied to the amplifier V1 which is cathode-coupled by resistor R41 to valve V3, the grid voltage of which is stabilized by a reference tube V8. Positive feedback is provided from the anode of V1 to the grid of V3 via R40 and P1 to increase the gain. Valve V3 controls the series valves V6, V7, two valves being used in series as the particular circuit is used at E.H.T. An auxiliary rectifier MR1 supplies the amplifier V1, V3 from a transformer T1, and stabilizers V2, V9 stabilize this auxiliary supply.
