Abstract

788,389. Agricultural implements. STEKETEE, C. J. Nov. 27, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 36298/56. Class 6(1). A machine for thinning plants comprises holders 4 in each of which is rotatably journalled a longitudinally extending shaft 6 which is oscillated by means of a lever 13 and coupling rod 14, a tool 15 being pivotally mounted on each shaft 6. As shown, the holders 4 are fixed to brackets 2 on a frame 1. A supporting wheel may be mounted on each holder 4 and by removing a bolt in a hole 11<SP>1</SP> the holder may be freely pivotable. By replacing the tool 15 by one having bent ends 18 the machine may be used as a harrow. In a modification in which each holder is provided with a supporting wheel and is pivoted on the brackets 2, each tool comprises an arm adjustably mounted on the shaft 6 and provided with a blade or one or more pins.
