Abstract
788,209. Pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes. BEIERSDORF & CO. AKT.-GES., P. Jan. 16, 1956 [Feb. 12, 1955], No. 1466/56. Class 140. Pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes or films are produced by applying an aqueous dispersion of polyethylene to a film or tape support, evaporating the water from the dispersion and fusing the particles of polyethylene, e.g. at 115 to 160 C., to form a continuous coating on said support and thereafter applying a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive to the other side of the support. The film or tape support may be of cellulose hydrate or polyisobutylene which may be provided with an intermediate layer, or paper or porous webs which are coated with the intermediate layer, e.g. polyisobutylene, butadiene-styrene, butadiene-acrylonitrile, chloroprene, rubber or vinyl acetate-vinyl chloride copolymer, to prevent the penetration of the aqueous dispersion into the support. The support may be soaked, impregnated, or coated with materials known per se to improve the adhesion between the adhesive and the support. Specifications 644,803 and 690,333 are referred to.
