788,116. Bench stops. MACDONALD, W. S. April 25, 1956 [April 30, 1955], No. 12584/55. Class 61. A workbench stop comprises a stop block g sliding non-rotatably in an open-topped holder b fixed in a lining a set in a work bench e so that the stop block may be raised or lowered by a screwthreaded spindle j which passes through the stop block and can be actuated either from above or below the work bench. The screw-threaded portion of spindle j co-operates with a screw-threaded hole in a plate m fixed to the lining a, whilst the block g is held rotatably on the spindle j between the screw slotted spindle head j<SP>1</SP> and a nut n or split pin (not shown) secured to the spindle below the block g. A,special configuration (not shown) is provided at the end of the screw-threaded portion of spindle j to enable it to be rotated from below the bench. An insert p protects the spindle head but does not mask it completely, so that the stop can be operated from above the bench if desired.
