Abstract

787,677. Variable resistances. CLAROSTAT MFG. CO., Inc. May 31, 1955, No. 15544/55. Class 37. Figs. 1, 2 and 3 show a variable resistance in which a U-shaped contact element 22 of resilient metal has a contact 23-which bears against one end of a resistance strip 9 which is held by a body member 5 and the ends of which are brought out to terminals 10. The contact element 22 has a further contact 27 which bears against a collector ring 12 which is brought out at terminal 11. The element 22 has an opening in its bridge portion 24 through which a projection 19 of an insulating carrier plate 17 passes so that contacts 23 and 27 are disposed on opposite sides of plate 17. A stop member 14 has a projection 18 which engages with a notch 17 in member 13 and a flat upper surface which bears against the under side of the bridge 24 of contact element 22 so that the three members 22, 14 and 13 are held tightly together and can be rotated by shaft 8.
