Abstract
786,936. Cooling discharge tubes. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. Jan. 18, 1956 [Jan. 18, 1955], No. 1721/56. Class 39(1). An electronic tube of the kind in which anode cooling is effected by the vaporization of cooling liquid in thermal contact with the anode or with a body in heat transfer relationship with the anode is provided, between and substantially coaxially with the external surface of the anode body 1 and the internal surface of a surrounding container 3 for the coolant, with a circumferential jacket 4 between which and the anode 1 coolant entrained by released vapour will be constrained to rise, together with a first set of guide vanes 6 to intercept liquid ascending internally of the jacket 4 and curved to impart a rotational increment to that liquid above the upper end of the jacket 4 and a second set of guide vanes 7 to intercept such rotationally moving liquid and direct it downward over the outer surface of the jacket 4. The anode body may be provided with staggered protruberances as in Specification 706,209. [Group XIII] In order to direct the liquid rising between the protuberances 2 into the zone of the vanes 6 a deflector cone 9 with inclined fins 10 may be provided near the upper end of the anode body 1.
