Abstract

786,786. Resilient mountings; mounting bodies on underframes. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd. Feb. 8, 1956 [Feb. 17, 1955], No. 4725/55. Class 108(2) and 108(3) The invention relates to a resilient mounting of the kind comprising a resilient pad 4 sandwiched between two plates 1, 5, interconnected by parallel links 7 so that displacement of one plate across the other reduces the distance betwen the plates due to angular movement of the links. According to the invention each plate comprises a central plane portion and mutually similar end portions each inclined to one and the same side of the central portion and forming an obtuse angle therewith so that displacement of one plate across the other causes squeezing of the pad between the end portions. As shown, the plate 1 is secured to a cross member 2 of a chassis frame of a commercial vehicle. The plate 5 is secured to the cross member 6 of the vehicle cab. The plate 1 has a surrounding wall 1a to give it the form of a tray. Holes in the wall 1a provide mountings for bolts 8A for the links 7. The pad 4 is provided across its upper surface with two V-section incisions to permit it to bend and take up the shape of the plates 1, 5.
