Class 44 A push-pull fastener for fastening together two parts swingable relatively to open another such as a door and a door jamb comprises a catch and a keeper therefore, the catch comprising a housing which has two surfaces 15, 16, facing one another, one or both of said surfaces having a spring loaded pressure member, preferably a ball, projecting from it into the space 14 between the surfaces, the keeper in the 'fastening position being adapted to engage in the space 14 the catch and keeper being adapted to be fixed by-screws to the two parts which are swingable relatively to one another and the keeper having means for holding its fixing screw 23 in its fastening position and being shaped so that before it is fixed to one of the relatively swingable parts it can be temporarily held in its fastening position in the space 14. In the construction shown, the housing consists of two box like parts 1, 2 intergally formed with a base plate 3 the facing surfaces of the parts 1 and 2 forming the said surfaces 15, 16. Each surface is formed with an opening 8, 9 and two pressure members in the form of balls 10, 11 are used, one projecting through each opening. The balls are loaded by springs 12, 13 which are maintained in position by projections 17, 18. The keeper is shaped so that it cannot rotate on its longitudinal axis in the space 14 and the opposite sides, which are gripped by the balls, may be of arcuate shape. As shown in Fig. 6 the means for holding the fixing screw in its fastening position consists of projections 24 which engage the thread of the screw, but the screw may alternatively be held by means of an apertured insert which can be of cup-like, disc-like or substantially tubular shape, the provision of the means for holding the screw in its fastening position makes it possible to use the screw for marking the position on the door at which it must be inserted. To do this the catch is first screwed to the door jamb, or example, and the keeper with the screw in place is engaged with the catch in its fastening position. If the door is then swung into engagement with the point of the screw it marks the door and the keeper can then be removed and screwed to the door at the marked point.
