786,221. Steering vehicles. SOC. M. I. C. MECANIQUE, INDUSTRIE, CHIMIE. May 16, 1955 [May 31, 1954], No. 14036/55. Class 79(5) A truck comprises wheels 2, 3 mounted on the transverse plane of symmetry of the truck and a swivelling front wheel 4 which can either castor freely or be deflected by a coupling rod 8 pivoted on a pin 9, a connection bar 11 rotatable integrally with the wheel 4 being releasably connectible to the rod 8. As shown a side 12 on the bar 11 engages the rod 8 so that deflection of the rod 8 about its pin 9 causes the wheel 4 to be deflected so that its axis passes through the intersection of the axis of the wheels 2, 3 and the line normal to the rod 8 and passing through the mid-length thereof. A rear wheel 5 castors so that its axis also passes through the intersection. The rod 8 can be connected at its front to a pin 10 on a preceding truck whereby a train is formed. The rear wheel may be dispensed with and the front and rear wheels may be duplicated.
