Abstract

770,165. Arrangement of wheels and axles; single wheel suspensions. FILDES, J. S. Oct. 22, 1954 [Oct. 22, 1953], No. 29167/53. Class 108(2). An attachment for coupling a towing vehicle to a trailer comprises an element 1 mounted on the rear of the towing vehicle and having a towing hitch 3 for attachment to the draw bar of the trailer, a wheel mounted on a castor and a spring suspension suspending the castor from the element 1. The castor wheel is mounted between forks 12 pivoted about a vertical axis in a bearing 10 which is carried by a parallelogram spring suspension demountably fixed to the element 1. To damp angular movement of the castor wheel a pad of friction material 15 is held in the bearing 10 by a bolt 16. Specification 723,758 is referred to.
