785,953. Head rests. ARNAU, F. Aug. 3, 1955, No. 22242/55. Classes 52(2) and 52(5) A head rest for the driver of a motor vehicle comprises an upholstered head piece 21 supported on an adjustable arm attached to a part of the vehicle body independent of the seat. The arm consists in five tubular parts, 3, 8, 10. 12 and 16, the parts 3 and 8 sliding telescopically within the limits of a slot 6a and being clamped together by a thumbscrew 7, the parts 10 and 12 are connected by a spring 11, and the parts 8 and 10, and 12 and 16 are joined together by ratchet joints set at right angles to each other. A sleeve 19, carrying the freely rotatable head piece 21 is fitted to the tubular part 16 and is adjustable about the longitudinal axis of the tube. The arm is fitted to a bush or socket 1, sunk into a pillar of the car body, by a spring catch 2 engaging either of two slots in the bush and released by depressing the pin 6.
