Abstract
1349760 Vehicle steps CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 31 Oct 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 60174/71 Heading B7B A vehicle, particularly an ambulance, is provided with a step 16 and a hand rail 23 which are together movable between an operative and a stowed position. The vehicle has a stair well with fixed steps 13, 14 the lower of which pivotally mounts arms 17 which carry the step 16. The hand rail 23 is pivotally mounted between a collar 24, slidable on an upright 25, and the end of an arm 17. In the stowed position the arms and step are folded into the stair well (Fig. 2, not shown) and the underside of the step 16 forms an extension of the vehicle floor 12. In another embodiment the hand rail is pivotally connected to the step 16 (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) at its lower end.
