Abstract

785,886. Nuclear reactors. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A. March 2, 1956 [March 17, 1955], No. 7879/55. Class 39(4). Heat generated in the core 1 of a nuclear reactor is trans ferred to a heat receiver 4 by means of an intermediary fluid in its critical state. This intermediary fluid is con tained in a series of tubes 3 the lower ends of which con tain nuclear fuel 2 or are sur rounded by nuclear fuel. The upper ends of these tubes 3 are provided with fins an( may project through a hea exchanger generating stean into a superheater therefor Alternatively there may be two sets of tubes 3, containing different fluids, one of which has a critical temperature suitable for generating steam, and the other suitable for superheating the steam generated.
