Abstract

1,008,713. Nuclear power plant. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. Dec. 20, 1961 [Dec. 23, 1960], No. 44273/60. Addition to 902,182. Drawings to Specification. Heading G6C. In a nuclear power plant of the type described in Specification 1,008,712, the heat exchanger disclosed therein is provided with a central duct, through the exchange elements. The flow of reactor coolant gases may be by-passed, from the exchanger elements, through the duct by a valve which controls the upper openings of by-pass pipes lying within the duct. The by-pass pipes are secured in horizontal baffle plates through sliding seals which permit differential thermal expansion. Specification 865,425 also is referred to.
