785,426. Motor vehicles. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. May 28, 1956 [June 17, 1955; Nov. 21, 1955], No. 16408/56. Class 79(3) [Also in Group XXXIV] A motor vehicle has a braking system comprising multi-disc brakes adjacent the wheel axle mountings, cooling liquid being circulated through the interengaging discs by pumps 30 on the rear wheels 12. The pumps 30, which may be of the sliding vane type, draw a suction from a reservoir 60, the liquid discharged from the rear wheel brakes passing through a heat exchanger 50 in passing to the front wheels, a further heat exchanger 55 being interposed between the front wheel brakes and the reservoir 60. A valve device 41, 42 may be opened by a temperature responsive device 43 to by-pass the heat exchanger 50.
