Abstract
1328149 Fluid pressure brakes AISIN SEIKI KK 10 Nov 1970 [10 Nov 1969 (2) 16 Oct 1970] 53474/70 Heading F2F [Also in Division B7] An hydraulic brake system for a powered vehicle includes the combination of a pair of outboard brake units for the front or rear wheels and a pair of inboard brake units mounted on shafts rotatable in unison with the front or rear wheels. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1) a four wheel drive vehicle has outboard disc brakes 31, 32 on the front wheels 25, 26 outboard disc brakes 31a, 32a on the rear wheels 25a, 26a, and inboard disc brakes 17, 18, 17a, 18a, on drive shafts 13, 14, 13a, 14a respectively. The brakes are controlled by a pedal 38 which operates a tandem type master cylinder 35, one cylinder 36 being connected to the outboard brakes 31, 32, 31a, 32a, and the other cylinder 37 being connected to the inboard brakes 17, 18, 17a, 18a. In a modification (not shown) all the brakes are operated by a single master cylinder. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3) the rear inboard brakes are omitted and the cylinder 36 is connected to the front outboard brakes 31, 32 and the cylinder 37 is connected to the front inboard brakes 17, 18 and rear outboard brakes 31a, 32a. The line 243 to the rear brakes 31a, 32a includes a pressure control valve 237 so that the braking effort is distributed 10% to each of the front inboard brakes 17, 18, 25% to each of the front outboard brakes 31 and 32 and 15% to each of the rear outboard brakes 31a, 32a.
