Abstract
785,083. Laminates. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. Aug. 29, 1955 [March 28, 1955], No. 24703/65. Class 140. [Also in Group XVI] A laminated sheet or web for use on a carbon paper comprises a thin paper tissue B coated with a transfer composition A on one side, and, adhered to the other side, a rubber hydrochloride film D, stretched to at least twice its normal size so that its resultant thickness is no more than 0.0004 inch. In manufacturing the carbon paper a roll of tissue 1 is led to an adhesive bath 2 employing a wax or latex and then after passing a roller 5, is fed over a rubbercoated roller 6 where the tissue B is laminated to the rubber hydrochloride film D. The film D passes from a roll 10 over a roll 11, and then to a heated roller 12, the surface speed of which is at least twice the surface speed of the roll 11 so as to effect the stretching. The joined web passes to a transfer coating bath 16 and finally to a cold roll 18 before being wound on a wind-up 20.
