Abstract
784,442. Induction motors. DEMAGZUG GES. June 6, 1955 [June 4, 1954; March 2, 1955], No. 16255/55. Class 35. A squirrel cage motor has a conical axially movable rotor having at one end a ring 1 partially enclosed by an iron ring 2. When current flows in the ring 1, the flux produced thereby embraces the stator nearby projecting end 3 facing the rings 1, 2. Thus, during starting an additional axial force is produced on the rotor. The rotor axial force is utilized to disengage a friction brake when the motor is started. In Fig. 2, the ring 1 is replaced by a ring 5 fixed at the wide end of the conical rotor and is partly enclosed by an iron ring 6. In this arrangement, the stator projecting end 3 of Fig. 1 is left out, but owing to the shape and position of the iron ring 5, the latter is also embraced by some of the stator and rotor leakage flux. In Fig. 4, the only flux embracing the iron ring 10 is that which is diverted tangentially from the stator and rotor stray flux and, in this arrangement, the current carrying ring is merely used as a support for the iron ring 10.
