Abstract
1308252 Induction motors SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO ELEKTRMASHINOSTROENIA 25 March 1971 7965/71 Heading H2A In an induction motor in which an armature 9 is attracted towards an auxiliary rotor core 7 when the motor is energized so as to release a brake 11, the auxiliary core 7 is separated from the main rotor core 5 by a non-magnetic spacer 6 and is made up (Fig. 2) of metal plates 16 arranged in radial planes and held in position by a non-magnetic alloy 17. The plates 16 of the auxiliary core fit into slots in the spacer 6, and the alloy 17 holding the plates in position is formed integrally with an end ring 8 of a squirrel cage 21 common to both cores. The end ring 8 may be flush with or may project from the end of the auxiliary core. A sleeve (20, Fig. 6, not shown) may extend over the gap between the toothed armature 9 and the auxiliary core 7 to provide a dashpot action for damping the movement of the armature.
