784,367. Non-linear resistance testing. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Oct. 18, 1955 [Oct. 18, 1954], No. 29754/55. Class 37. Apparatus for comparing the current/voltage characteristics of two non-linear resistances, wherein a single - phase alternating - voltage source supplies current to a first standard and a second comparison non-linear resistance which are connected in similar polarities in series with the two halves of the primary of a differential transformer whose output current representing the unbalance current between the resistance is displayed on a cathode-ray oscillograph against the applied voltage. In Fig. 1 a standard diode DN and a test diode DX are connected in similar polarity to the opposed ends of the primary of a differential transformer T. The centre point is earthed, and an A.C. generator V is connected thereto and through a current-limiting impedance Z to the remaining poles of the diodes. The transformer secondary output energizes the Y plates of a cathode-ray oscilloscope whose X plates are energized from the output of A.C. generator V to display the unbalance current existing between the diodes as a function of applied voltage (Figs. 2, 3, not shown).
