Abstract

784,195. Typewriters. OLYMPIA WERKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 13, 1955 [March 28, 1955], No. 35777/55. Class 100(4) [Also in Group XXIV] Platen-roller couplings. A line-space ratchet coupling for typewriters comprises a pair of spring-loaded pivotally mounted jaws 13 forming a clutch between the linespacing ratchet 9 and a disc 7 attached ,to the platen spindle, each jaw 13 being provided with a wedge surface 13c which coacts with a cone 17 loosely mounted on a support 15 which is displaceable in the direction of the platen axis against the action of a spring 21 to release the jaws. In a modification, the cone is mounted on a resilient sleeve 19 so that the cone can move radially and axially to adjust itself, so that if the dimension of the jaws vary, they will press evenly against the linespace ratchet 9.
