Abstract
784,064. Confectionery. WARREN, C. J. L., and MILROSS, J. W. March 7, 1955 [March 12, 1954], No. 6557/55. Divided out of 784,063. Class 28 (1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A sugar confectionery syrup to be deposited for making sweets as described in Specification 784,065 is charged into a heated container 36 so as to submerge one or more entry ports 43 in the cylinder wall of a pump having a plunger 38, whose clearance fit with the cylinder is such that the syrup provides the sole sealing medium between the plunger and the cylinder, and a discharge valve outside the container. Plunger 38 is raised to draw syrup into the cylinder by a pivoted lever 44 actuated by a rod 47 pivoted thereto and connected at its other end to a pivoted lever 48 having a follower 50 engaging the cam 26 on shaft 16 which is rotated as described in Specification 784,065. Rod 47 and lever 48 may have an adjustable slotted connection. A manually-operated cutout control may be provided for plunger 38 comprising a spring-biased collar on rod 47 which can be engaged by a forked end 55 on an arm 56. The other end of arm 56 is bent over and secured to a rod 54 on which an arm 53 is also secured. The other end of arm 53 is actuated by a spring-biased rod 52 with locking means, e.g. a locking shoulder 58 and a keyhole slot 59 (Fig. 3, not shown).
