Abstract

Sweets comprising single edible centres covered with toffee are made by depositing predetermined quantities of toffee into open permanent moulds by means of a pump having a clearance between the plunger and the cylinder such that the syrup provides the sole sealing medium between the plunger and the cylinder, mechanically depositing and pressing a centre into the toffee and then covering the top of the centre with a second predetermined quantity of syrup. The centre may be a nut. The sweets are preferably made in the apparatus described in Specification 784,065. Provisional Specifications 7338/54 and 32752/54 also describe this apparatus.
