[Also in Groups XV and XXIII] A removable closure for a container is adapted to support a brush, pen or other marking implement with the handle passing through the closure and the head inside the container, the closure being such that the container remains airtight whether the brush is in position or removed. In Fig. 10 the closure comprises a resilient rubber cap 21 with a slit 4 into which the handle of the brush is fitted, while in Figs. 8 and 9 the slit is provided in a diaphragm 3 secured to a flange on a push fit and a screw fit lid respectively. In Fig. 2 three diaphragms are provided 7, 8, 9 with the slits in the inner diaphragm at right angles to those in the outer diaphragm. The edges of the diaphragms are secured together between metal, wooden or plastic rings 10, 11 which may be the arms of a U section ring, Fig. 3 (not shown) or may be flanges on two rings screwed to the top of the container, Fig. 5 (not shown). The Fig. 2 closure is rested on the container but a spring clip, Fig. 4 (not shown) or a screw cap may be provided to secure it in position. In Figs. 6 and 7 two diaphragms are provided and these are secured in push fit lids 18, 20. The closure may alternatively comprise two outer plastic diaphragms of tougher material and either two inner soft rubber diaphragms or a soft rubber strip coiled up so that the brush may be pushed between the turns of the coil. The brush may be inserted into the slits either handle first from below or alternatively a channel shaped guide member 22, Fig. 11, may be inserted temporarily into the slit before the brush is inserted. The holder is particularly suitable for pens of the type known under the Registered Trade Mark " Uno. "
