809,610. Drinking vessels. SLEEMAN, W. G. R. Aug. 13, 1957 [May 16, 1956 ; Aug. 13, 1956], Nos. 15211/56 and 24664/56. Class 66. A non-spill attachment for a cup or soupplate on railway trains comprises a circular or annular cover for application to the rim of the vessel, the horizontal portion 2 of the cover preventing spillage when the liquid surges but allowing the vessel to be used while it is in place. As applied to a cup 3, the cover is annular and has a cut-away sector enabling the cup-rim to be accessible to the user's lips. The cover may be of waxed paper, or plastic and the rim 1 may resiliently grip the cup-rim. For soup-plates the cover is a complete annulus with a central aperture large enough to enable the soup-spoon to be manipulated; the annulus may be in two semiannular halves. In Fig. 7 the cover is circular but has a hinged sector 7 which can be displaced when in use.
