[Class 146 (iii)] [Also in Groups XVII and XXVIII] A holder for a stick of marking material comprises a tube 10 of curved or polygonal cross-section, a cup or platform 12 in or on which the stick is seated and which can be slid up the tube as the stick is consumed, and a detent member consisting of three or more flexible arms 16 attached to the cup so that the pointed ends of the arms frictionally engage the smooth wall of the tube and prevent the cup moving downwards. A cup lid 11 which might also be screw-threaded or secured by a bayonet joint is provided. Packing rings can be interposed between the slide and the tube.
