Abstract

781,960. Filter-tip cigarettes. REYNOLDS TOBACCO CO., R. J. March 2, 1956 [June 17, 1955], No. 6598/56. Class 130. A cigarette comprises a main body portion 12 constituted essentially of leaf tobacco and a butt end portion 14 constituted essentially of shreads of stem tobacco in random arrangement and which may be cut from flattened stems or from paper made from stems and may be flavoured with tobacco extracts. As shown, paper-wrapped portions 12, 14 abut and are connected by a paper band 18, a cork tip 20 indicating the butt end, but the paper of the portion 12 may extend over that of the portion 14 being wrapped around the portion 14 and its own tobacco during assembly and an outer layer of indicating paper being applied as before. The portion 14 may be from about 7.5 mm. to 30 mm. long, and a length of about 15 mm. in conjunction with a portion 12 about 70 mm. long is mentioned.
