Abstract

780,904. Tubeless tyres. FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. Aug. 15, 1955 [May 23, 1955], No. 23423/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 144 (2). The air impervious inner liner of a tubeless tyre is composed of a rubbery brominated copolymer of a major proportion of isobutylene and a minor portion of isoprene (butyl rubber) compounded with a filler selected from mica, acetylene-type carbon black or clay ; the liner may be applied by brushing or spraying a solution formed of the stock dissolved in a solvent on to the inner surface of an unvulcanized tyre prior to its shaping and curing. Suitable amounts of the various fillers per 100 parts by weight of copolymer and 50 to 150 parts, 80 to 100 parts and 50 to 100 parts respectively of mica, clay or acetylene black. The Specification gives examples of suitable compositions based on each of the fillers. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 715,564.
