Abstract

780,872. Locking rods. VAUXHALL MOTORS, Ltd. Jan. 19, 1956 [Jan. 25, 1955], No. 2146/55. Class 80 (3). A resilient looking device, particularly for locking a selector fork 1 of a gear shift mechanism in one of a number of positions along a rod 2, comprises a ball 8 adapted to co-operate with notches 6 of the rod and loaded by a spring 10 through the intermediary of another ball 11. The ball 11 acts on the ball 8 at an angle to the direction of movement of the latter and is preferably housed with the spring 10 in a bore 9 at right angles to a bore 7 housing the ball 8. A stop 12 limits the movement of ball 11.
