780,729. Driving gear for belt conveyers. SUTCLIFFE, Ltd., R., BAINES, L., and BARNISH, L. S. Dec. 1, 1953 [Nov. 7, 1952], No. 28145/52. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XXIX] A belt conveyer is driven by a roller 10 which forms the rotating outer casing of an. hydraulic motor. The motor has pistons 5 in cylinders 3 operated by liquid supplied through passages 13 and 15, 15a-15d. As each piston moves radially outwards, it carries a roller 4 against a cam track 9 on the inside of the casing so that the casing rotates. The speed of rotation may be varied and the direction of rotation may be reversed. If the hydraulic supply fails, a brake brings the belt to rest. A number of motors may be assembled into a multi-drive head.
