Abstract

780,264. Knitting-machines. VOSSEN, E. Aug. 13, 1954, No. 23659/54. Class 74 (2). A stop-motion device for a circular machine comprises a pair of arcuate bars 20 which are spaced one above the other to engage the inside of the knitted tube, as it is produced, to hold it taut. A number of feelers 74 are positioned in a block 62, pivotally mounted in a casing 48 supported between the two arcuate members, and are resiliently urged against the fabric so that in the event of a feeler engaging a hole in the relatively rotating fabric tube the block 62 is swung about its pivot and releases a catch bar 104 holding a switch actuating member 88. The number 88 is mounted on the side of the casing and is resiliently urged towards the fabric so that when released it presses against the fabric and actuates a switch through an arm 118 mounted on the outside of the fabric tube, thereby stopping the machine. Alternatively, the feelers may be mounted to press against the outside of the fabric tube.
