The elements of a multi-way plug-and-socket coupling are locked together by means of a shouldered pin on one element engaging a resilient latching member on the other, the end of the pin being pointed or tapered so as to deflect the latching member during engagement of the coupling elements. The insulating body of both coupling elements comprises a front part 5a with apertured lugs 6, and a back part 5b with lugs 7, the parts being held by bent wire 8. The socket is mounted in a panel opening by means of pins 11 having flanges bearing on the panel 9 and threaded rear parts receiving bolts 14. The plug body fits in a metal casing 16 having side apertures 18 to receive the lugs 6, 7, and tubular formations 21 through which a wire clip 20 is passed to retain the body. In the assembled position the lugs 6, 7 hold in place a pair of spring latches 19, the limbs 19a of which are cut out at 19d to form narrow bands 19e which are bowed inwardly and lie behind the holes 13 in lugs 6. When the plug is applied to the socket, the conical tips 11c of the pins 11 enter the holes 13 and deflect the limbs 19a so that the bands 19e enter recesses 7a in the lugs 7. When fully inserted the bands .19e snap outwards behind the shoulders of the tips 11c, so holding the plug in position. The plug is released for uncoupling by pressing the limbs 19a between thumb and finger.
