Abstract

780,074. Stabilizing aircraft. JANISCH, M. C. July 27, 1954, No. 21881/54. Class 4. An aeroplane comprising a fuselage 3 and wings 1, 2 is stabilized by a weight 4 which is suspended by cables 5, 6 mounted on pulleys 7, 8 and connected to a winch within the fuselage. The weight, housed in position 4<SP>1</SP> during landing and take-off is lowered during flight to lower the position of the overall centre of gravity G and thereby stabilize the aircraft in flight. The weight may be provided with contacts so that when it encounters on obstruction a warning will be shown or sounded in the cockpit.
