Abstract

779,980. Circlips. WALDES KOH - I - NOOR, Inc. Jan. 3, 1956, No. 151/56. Class 89 (2). [Also in Groups XXVII and XXVIII] A split-ring 12 of spring-metal for connecting a cap 10 to a pipe 11, is provided on the inner edge thereof with radially-extending prongs 17a which are inclined to the plane of the ring, the inner edges of the prongs being arcuate and lying on a circle smaller in diameter than that of the pipe. To facilitate contraction of the ring, prongs 16, 17 are arranged at the free ends 13, 14 of the ring for engagement by pliers &c. The ring seats in a groove 20 in cap 10, which may then be pushed over pipe 11, the inclination of the prongs tending to dig them into the pipe on reverse movement. The free ends of the ring may be connected by a temporary bridge, to prevent distortion during tempering, tumbling &c. and to prevent interlocking during handling &c. In a modification, the prongs project from the outer edge of the ring.
