Abstract
1288343 Coupling cables CCL SYSTEMS Ltd 3 Feb 1971 3801/71 Heading D1T [Also in Divisions E1 and E2] A coupling plate for joining the ends of two sets of tensioned reinforcing cables S, S' in pre-stressed concrete, has a central portion 3 for locating the plate in the concrete situation and through which there are holes 4 tapered at 5 to receive conical grippers 10 for cables S, and there are a series of radial slots 6 for holding the other cables S' which have on their ends, compression fittings 11 and seating washers 12. A retaining ring 13 holds the cables S' in their slots. The spigot portion 3 may be hollowed out as at 14. The seatings 8 may be radial instead of being inclined as shown. As shown the central portion 3 projects from the plate to provide a locating spigot, but a separate ring (15, Fig. 5, not shown) may be used.
