Class 86 A mixing device comprises a conical vessel 1 having a screw conveyer 6 which rotates about its own axis 7 and about the axis 2 of the vessel 1, and a disc 14, provided with pins 15, carried on a shaft 11 which extends through the wall 1 of the vessel and is driven by an electric motor 12. In a modification which permits liquid to be supplied to the vessel through the centre of the disc, a basin shaped disc 34 having projections 35 is secured to a hollow shaft 29 which is rotatably mounted in a structure 23 and driven through pulleys 27, 30 by a motor 26. A tube 36 extends through the shaft 29 and carries a disc 40 which is spring- pressed into engagement with a disc 33 on the end of the shaft 29. The end of the tube 36 is closed by a plug 39 and liquid supplied through a main 38 flows through a hole 41 into the space between the discs 33, 40 at a pressure determined by the compression of a spring by rotation of a handwheel 45. For the addition of a powdery material, the device is modified as shown in Fig. 3, in which material supplied to an inlet 52 is carried by a screw conveyer 54 to the centre of a rotating disc 59. A spring-pressed valve comprises a central bar 61 having head 69 secured thereto.
